Concept & Prototype – In order to resolve all identified challenges, a two part system was proposed to the Chemotherapy management.
The simplest component is a padded cutaway in the desk that would bring closer the Pharmacist, and relieve them of the constant reaching to the equipment on the desk.
The second component is a sit/stand stool that can be used as a bar stool when a technician has time for a break. When the work load intensifies, the stool can be put under the desk and clamped (using traditional office chair hydraulics) to become a leaning chair. The Pharmacist can stand in front of the stool and prop their knees into the padded face of the stool (as illustrated).
